Ingredients

Cookie

  • 1 package store-bought sugar cookie dough *enough for one large pizza round or make dough from scratch

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • · 4 oz Softened Cream Cheese
  • · 1/2 Tbs Milk
  • · 2 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar
  • · 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • · 1/4 tsp Almond Extract
  • · 1/8 tsp Salt
  • · 1/2 cup Softened Butter

Berries

  • 1/2 cup Fresh blueberries
  • 1-2 cups Fresh strawberries *sliced

Instructions

  • Preheat oven according to the sugar cookie dough package directions (typically 325–350°F / 165–175°C).
  • Prepare the crust: On a round pizza pan or large baking sheet, press the sugar cookie dough into a large, even circle, about ¼ inch thick.
  • Bake the cookie crust according to package instructions, usually around 12–16 minutes, or until lightly golden. *Tip: Watch closely to avoid overbaking—you're aiming for soft and chewy!
  • Cool completely before decorating. *This is important so the frosting doesn’t melt.
  • Frosting: While the cookies are baking you can prepare the frosting. Combine butter and cream cheese in a mixing bowl, using a handheld mixer, beat until smooth and fully combined. Add in the vanilla, almond extract, milk, salt, blend to combine. Then slowly add in the powdered sugar until fully incorporated.
  • Frost the cookie: Use the full batch of cream cheese frosting. Spread evenly over the entire surface of the cooled cookie.
  • Decorate with fruit: In the upper left corner, place blueberries in rows to form the “stars” section of the flag. Lay strawberries in diagonal lines or horizontal rows across the rest of the cookie to create red “stripes.” The white frosting will serve as the white stripes, in between the strawberry rows.
  • Serve Chilled or immediately after decorating. *The fruit may start to bleed juices onto the frosting if warm or left out for too long. For ultimate freshness and aesthetic, serve after decorating.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

Slice and serve! Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife for clean edges.
Notes:
Best served the same day, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
Feel free to use raspberries or other red fruits if desired.
This is a great recipe to involve your kids—especially with the decorating!
