These Paleo Banana Chocolate Chip muffins taste just as good as they look! Many years ago I was trying out the Paleo lifestyle for the first time. I was in search of a delicious dessert or baked good to be able to eat while doing the Paleo diet. I tried countless recipes. I decided to make my own Paleo Muffin that I could eat as a breakfast, snack, or dessert. That is when this recipe was created!
I love that these are filled with simple, clean ingredients. They taste delicious and are easy to make. I had these muffins on repeat weekly for many, many years. My kids love when I make them! You can put all the ingredients (except the chocolate chips) into a blender and make them easy blender muffins! Or you can use a mixer or mixing bowl. Any of these techniques work great for these muffins.
The tastiest muffins are made with very ripe bananas. A very ripe banana will have a lot of brown spots on the outside of the peel, or look more brown than yellow. This adds another level of sweetness to the muffins that makes them even more delicious.
For those of you wondering what a Paleo diet is, I’d love to explain. Let me preface with this, I no longer do a majority Paleo lifestyle. My body felt amazing when I was doing a majority Paleo diet, but my dietary needs have changed a bit since then. I still absolutely love eating Paleo meals, and still eat my paleo cookie recipe and muffin recipe often. The Paleo diet itself isn’t the focal point for me, currently. The Paleo diet, sometimes referred to as the caveman diet, consists of: lean meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. These foods are foods that in the past were produced by hunting and gathering. This diet does not include, grains, legumes, or dairy products. A lot of people use the Paleo diet to lose weight, or maintain a healthy weight. They may have a lower risk of heart disease, because they avoid highly processed foods and eat a lot more fruits and vegetables.
When I personally tried the Paleo lifestyle I did lose weight, and I did feel amazing. It was very difficult to try and be 100% Paleo all the time, so I usually tried to eat at least 80% Paleo and 20% other food groups.
These muffins work great as a pre-workout snack, a yummy breakfast, an afternoon pick me up, or a dessert after dinner! They are highly versatile and can be enjoyed any day. I love sharing this recipe because I know those people who like to be a little more health conscious will love them!
I would love to hear from you if you have tried or currently are eating a Paleo diet, or if you try making these delicious muffins for yourself! I hope you enjoy these yummy treats as much as I do! Leave me a comment, pin this recipe, or send me an email! I’d love to hear from you!
